Whenever discussions begin on the history of Muay Thai, it is always a contentious point on when things actually began.

An interview with Markus Muster Owner of Punch it Gym Koh Samui from the third issue 2017 at Chok! Magazine
Who knows the island, understands that. In the south of Thailand is one of the most beautiful places on earth, for many people, maybe even the most beautiful place for living. Koh Samui has been attracting for years more and more friends, martial artists from all over the world, of course.
“It was a big change in my life,” says Swiss Punch It Gym owner Markus Muster. After successful years as a martial arts entrepreneur in the Swiss homeland, he quickly found the next challenge here in Lamai.
“I wanted to do something new, combine my experiences as a marketing manager, martial artist, muay thai friend and entrepreneur, of course, somehow make this beautiful island my home too. An own Muaythaigym here was the perfect connection.”
The fact that Markus Muster has developed everything here with love and classic Swiss precision is clearly visible and noticeable to guests. Within a short time, a new top-level gym on Koh Samui was created – well equipped, with Thai trainers and varied Training plans included.
“To be honest, I did not think we would get that far that quickly,” says Markus. “For me it was more of a dream, in the beginning even more of a spinning, but now I’m sitting here, and the dream has come true. Our focus is to bring the Muaythai Sport further, also to convey to new audiences Muaythai, the values and the fun of muaythaite training clarify,” says Markus with shining eyes. “So I caught fire here as a trainer in Thailand, so I want to pass the fire on to Muaythai!”
